What qualifies you
for the position:
I have served the Moss Bluff and Gillis communities for over six
years as a board member and an active volunteer in both youth
recreation and public service organizations. My current
relationships with elected representation in Calcasieu Parish,
Baton Rouge, and Washington, D.C. will enable me to be a
productive public servant for the Ward One area.
Education:
Graduate of Sam Houston High School and Louisiana State
University. Graduated LSU with a Bachelor of Science in Civil
Engineering and a minor in Construction Management.
Civic groups and organizations:
- Ward One Economic Development Board, President
- Board of Commissioners for Sewer District #9 of Ward One,
President
- Board
Member and Coach for Moss Bluff Dixie Youth Baseball
- Board Member and Coach for Moss Bluff Recreation Football League
- Moss
Bluff Civic Club
- SWLA Chamber of Commerce.
- Sam Houston High School Football Boosters
- Sam Houston High School Baseball Boosters
Platform:
Over the past several years, the Moss Bluff/Gillis community has
experienced tremendous growth in both population and
development. While this growth has presented many positive
assets, our infrastructure has been strained and is having
difficulties keeping up with the growth. The community now has
an opportunity to address these shortcomings in a positive way
that is best for its future. The goal is to move forward and
manage the inevitable growth in a way that will enable us to
hold strong to the wonderful atmosphere that we have always
enjoyed as a community. It's not about changing to move in a
different direction...it's about managing the challenges in
front of us to secure our future as a community. To do this, I
plan to institute methods of master planning for drainage,
wastewater/sewer, roads, and zoning to stimulate structured
economic development for the purpose of expanding the commercial
tax base for Moss Bluff and Gillis. By expanding the tax base
for the Ward One area, funding for these projects will increase
without putting the bulk of the tax burden on the residents of
the community. |
